What is PSIM?

Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) is a software platform that connects multiple, otherwise independent systems — CCTV, access control, alarms, fire detection, building management, and more — into a single command-and-control environment.

It collects, analyses, and correlates data from these systems to present a unified operational picture, enabling better decision-making and faster incident response.

Unlike standalone Video Management Systems (VMS) or Access Control Systems (ACS), PSIM is designed to coordinate — not replace — existing systems by managing data, logic, and workflow across all of them.

True PSIM vs “PSIM-like” Systems

As the market evolves, many vendors have begun to describe their VMS or ACS platforms as “PSIM-capable.”
However, a true PSIM platform goes far beyond simple video Access Control, intercoms, audio, PA, Fire, BMS or alarm integration. PSIM is vendor neutral, meaning you can manage and control various video systems like for example Milestone + NX Witness on a single platform. On that same platform, you can manage various different brands of access control systems, various brands of PA, Intrusion, PIDS, PA, BMS etc. PSIM is truly open and vendor agnostic, all on the same platform.

Capability True PSIM VMS / ACS Claiming PSIM
System Scope Integrates multiple vendor systems across disciplines (security, building, IT, industrial). Limited to same-brand or certified partners.
Data Correlation Fuses alarms, video, analytics, and telemetry into actionable intelligence. Displays or logs isolated events.
Workflow Automation Enforces Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guides operator actions. Basic event acknowledgment only.
Situational Awareness Offers full GIS / map visualisation and incident timeline correlation. Focused only on video or door events.
Architecture Vendor-neutral and open, built for interoperability. Closed ecosystem, often SDK-restricted.
Scalability Enterprise, multi-site, multi-domain. Single-site or departmental.

In essence:

A PSIM unifies subsystems together to form a holistic solution.

A VMS helps you see what’s happening.

Our Role and Expertise

iPiCore Solutions is a specialised distributor of advanced PSIM technologies — providing technical support, pre-sales design guidance, and full post-deployment assistance to our integration partners and clients.

We represent and support internationally recognised open-architecture PSIM platforms, while maintaining a neutral, consultative approach to ensure each project receives the most appropriate platform for its operational context.

Our mission is to empower system integrators with the right technology, training, and long-term support framework to ensure lasting success in complex security environments.

When to Deploy PSIM

Consider a PSIM when:

  • Multiple security and building systems require a single command interface.
  • Situational awareness and cross-system event correlation are essential.
  • Large-scale or multi-site environments demand unified monitoring.
  • Compliance and incident auditability are non-negotiable.
  • Future growth requires an open, vendor-agnostic integration layer.

Why PSIM Matters

Unification of Disparate Systems

One operational view for security, life safety, and facilities management.

Process-Driven Response

Ensures operators follow predefined, auditable procedures.

Reduced Response Time

Automated alarm correlation eliminates noise and prioritises real threats.

Scalable Across Enterprises

Supports single facilities or nationwide roll-outs with identical logic and governance.

Operational Intelligence

Event logging and reporting provide measurable insights into performance and compliance.

Benefits of a True PSIM Platform

Instead of training personnel on multiple platforms — VMS type 1, VMS Type 2, Access Control type 1, access control type 2, Intrusion 1/2/3, Fire, and PIDS — PSIM consolidates all functions from all vendors into a single user interface.
Operators are trained once, reducing time, cost, and errors associated with learning multiple proprietary systems.

PSIM delivers a single operational environment for monitoring and response.
This reduces complexity and allows operators to manage diverse systems and sites without switching between interfaces or workstations.

Through automated correlation and rule-based logic, PSIM prioritises events and guides the operator through predefined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) — ensuring rapid and consistent responses to critical alarms.

Fewer systems to learn mean fewer specialist operators are needed.
PSIM systems allow a smaller team to manage a larger environment, freeing resources for strategic tasks and improving overall cost efficiency.

Real-time data fusion from multiple subsystems provides a comprehensive situational picture.
Operators no longer make decisions in isolation — all relevant information is automatically correlated and presented for clarity and accuracy.

All event handling follows structured workflows with full audit trails, ensuring compliance with organisational standards, SLAs, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, IEC 62443).
This reduces human error and enforces accountability.

One PSIM platform can span hundreds of geographically distributed sites, consolidating alarms, video, and data into a central command centre.
This architecture dramatically simplifies expansion and ongoing management.Operators are trained once, reducing time, cost, and errors associated with learning multiple proprietary systems.

PSIM enables integration with systems from different manufacturers through open protocols (ONVIF, BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, etc.).
End users are not locked into a single ecosystem, extending asset lifecycles and improving return on investment.

Comprehensive logs and dashboards provide operational intelligence across all subsystems — highlighting trends, performance metrics, and security patterns for proactive decision-making.

By eliminating the need for duplicate monitoring platforms and system-specific maintenance contracts, PSIM reduces total cost of ownership (TCO) over the system’s lifespan.
Integration, training, and maintenance efforts are centralised and repeatable.

Through standardised workflows and integrated communication tools, PSIM allows security, operations, and facilities teams to coordinate seamlessly — improving overall efficiency and situational awareness.

Built on open, modular architecture, PSIM systems evolve with emerging technologies — accommodating new analytics, sensors, or automation layers without needing full system replacement.
